20 March 2012 @ 05:01 am

It's finally time to submit your rough drafts! You have until 11:59 PST on March 21st, to submit your draft. Follow the instructions bellow when submitting.

We'd like to see everyone submit a draft with a minimum of 10,000 words. If you have less than this word count and you sincerely believe that you can still finish your fic in a satisfactory manner before May 1st then you can submit what you have written, as well as any outlines that accompany your work. If you talked to a mod previously about your circumstances, do the same. If you are not sure of your ability to finish, please tell us. It's unkind to the artist who claims your story if you are unable to finish in time.

Submissions go like this:
 • You'll be sending your fic to avengersbigbang@live.com
 • Your subject line should include the words "Rough Draft" as well as the username you signed up with.
Please fill out this form (and keep the coding) as the body of your email

Username:
Word Count:
Completed Percentage:
Title:
Type:
Characters/Pairings:
Warnings:(non con, mpreg, etc)
Summary:(no more than three paragraphs)

Add your fic as an attachment to the email. It should be submitted as a .doc file, although .docx, .rtf. and googledocs are also acceptable. If you are submitting a googledoc make sure it is publicly viewable.

It is vital that you include a concise summary of your fic for the claiming process. If your fic has triggering themes it is important to include a warning so that everyone is aware of what they are getting into. If, at this time, you feel you are unable to complete your fic on schedule, email a mod to say you're dropping out.

When we receive your email we will send you a confirmation. We'll be back on the 22cd to determine what time claims will go up. If you have any questions leave them here.

04 March 2012 @ 02:10 am

We have reached our third and final checkpoint! This checkpoint is mandatory, so if you don't respond at some point in the next three days we will start send you threatening emails and camping out on your front lawn. This is not a rough drafts submission so there's no need to panic just yet. If you're having trouble at this point please feel free to visit the support post.

This checkpoint works a little differently than the others. This time you will be submitting your information directly to the mods via email at avengersbigbang@live.com. Please include the information below in your email.

Username:
Word Count:
Concerns:

If you are writing with a coauthor please designate who will submit your check in and make sure to include both of your usernames. If you are writing two stories please provide information for each.

If at this time you feel you will not be able to complete the challenge by May 1st, please message a mod or send us an email telling us you'd like to drop out.

Everyone else, please feel free to reacquaint yourselves with the schedule (don't forget some dates have changed) and good luck!

First: There have been a couple changes to the schedule! To free up some time for our artists, we've changed a few dates. Claims, originally scheduled to go up on Sunday, March 25th, have been moved to Friday, March 23rd. The artist checkpoint has been moved from Tuesday, April 10th, to Friday, April 13th. Last but definitely not least, final drafts and art have been moved from Wednesday, April 25th, to Tuesday, May 1st. Please mark your calendars accordingly and message a mod if you have a problem with the new schedule.

Welcome to our second checkpoint! We're posting this a day late because of some modIy technical difficulties. We hope that the new time isn't an inconvenience to anyone and, if it is, please let us know. We hope everyone's been writing diligently and enjoying their stories, as at this point you should have at least a couple thousand words. If you aren't quite on the right track it's time to start stepping up your game. If you need a little cheerleading, feel free to make a comment in the support post.

This checkpoint is voluntary, but the next and final author's checkpoint will be mandatory. Please fill out the form below so we can add your progress to our spreadsheet. If, at this point, you feel that you will not be able to complete the challenge by May 1st, please send us a message at avengersbigbang@live.com

If you are writing two stories please fill out two forms.

Remember, this checkpoint is voluntary. The next checkpoint will be run through email submission to the mods and will be mandatory. This is just a general assessment of where everyone is and any problems they might be having. If you see someone with a word count bigger than yours, don't get discouraged.

We're nearing the final stretch everyone. Keep writing and have fun!

07 January 2012 @ 10:07 pm

Welcome to the Avengers Big Bang support post! This post will stay open throughout the challenge and serve as a place for authors and artists alike to post anything from ideas to issues in relation to big bang. If you have a question about comics canon, progression, art style, or any of the like, this is the place to ask your fellow participants for their opinions or reassurance.

While you'll mostly have free rein here, there are a few rules you'll need to follow to insure a pleasant experience for all:
 • Foremost, do not post direct excerpts or screenshots of your writing or artwork. It's perfectly acceptable and encouraged to discuss anything in your work that's bothering you , but if you feel the need to walk through a direct issue, please enlist the help of a beta and keep your actual work private until posting begins.
 • Bullying of any kind will not be tolerated. No concern or idea is to be belittled or mocked by any party. We don't think any of you would do this, but remember to consider how what you say affects others. This is a support post, after all.
 • No stealing someone else's ideas. Again, not that we think you would. We're just putting it out there because it has to be said.
 • Warn for any discussion that might have triggering themes. The subject header is not a feature in the new lj comment system, so if you are going to start a discussion with triggering theme's please add a bolded sentence at the beginning of your comment detailing what those theme's might be. I.E. Trigger Warning: Noncon
 • Please refrain from forming any concrete partnerships. This is mostly for any artists wandering around before we get close to claims going up. We know it's hard to hang around and do nothing while you wait to make your claim. We know that you want to cheerlead and get a look at some prospective authors and that's awesome and encouraged, but please try not to form any attachments to specific authors. It's definitely okay to make merry with said authors, but we don't want to break any hearts if you don't get your first choice when claims go up.
Annnnd that's it! Be courteous and kind to one another, and most of all have fun and be helpful! If you have any concerns don't be afraid to PM a mod. We're always here and we don't bite.

06 January 2012 @ 02:40 pm

Welcome to our first checkpoint! I hope everyone's having a good time of it so far, because this is when you should really be settling into your story. If you haven't started yet, this is the time!

Checkpoints will go like this: You comment with answers to the form bellow, we enter your name and word count into our spread sheet. Both the third author's checkpoint and the second artist's checkpoint will be mandatory.

If you are writing two stories please fill out two forms.

Once again, this checkpoint is not mandatory. This is just a general assessment of where everyone is and any problems they might be having. If you have yet to start, or you see someone with a word count bigger than yours, don't get discouraged.

Everyone is different and has a different writing process and speed, not to mention some people started their stories months ago! Don't forget the main objective of this challenge is to have fun!

31 December 2011 @ 11:55 pm

Happy New Year everybody! A couple of things:
 • Firstly: Today is the last day to sign up as an author for Big Bang! Sign ups will close tonight (January 1st) at 11:59 EST, so if you're debating a sign up now would be the time. However, artist sign ups will remain open until Saturday, February 18th, so you still have a bit of time to think about that. We have an unbalanced author to artist ratio at the moment, so if you can think of any artists who'd like to join our challenge, please tell them about us. The prompt post is also closing. Prompts may still be claimed, but no new prompts may be posted.
 • Secondly: With sign ups closing we're coming up on our first check point! Check point #1 will go up on Friday, January 6th. Don't panic, you don't have to have anything written at this point! This check point is just to assess where people are with their stories, or even just their ideas, so no pressure if you've yet to dive in.
 • Thirdly: We are now on tumblr! All major announcements will still be posted here, but if you would like to follow us , we will be posting resource material for both authors and artists as well as inspiration to keep you motivated.
 • Lastly, and on the subject of inspiration: Would you like us to create a support post? A place where you can discuss ideas and draw motivation to continue on from your fellow participants? If so let us know. If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions about the schedule etc, feel free to leave them here.
